General News Release November 18th, 2005 File Number AD2005:11-007
In the event that The Touchstone Committee - through The Power Of One - can elevate its BC MLA Unfair Compensation Lobby Committee to the proposed level of 1000-people per hour @ 24 hours per day { 744,000 people over 31 days } then there will become a significant lobby with the intent of causing the BC Legislature to revoke its Bill 17 Wages & Benefits for MLAs legislation; and, therein replace it with a formula more consistent with the actual wages and benefits ratio that the average Canadian has experienced over the last 10 years { 3% increase in income versus 26% increase in cost of living }.
There is rampant poverty and illiteracy in Canada which will only increase as our standard of living continues to languish as other world standards of living catch up { i.e, Indian, Asia, Africa with the reallocation of commerce and industry through New World Order policies and practices { elitism will prevail and flourish; note: demise of universal health care in Canada as it transgresses into a Third World Nation }. Our existing impoverished peoples { single parents, indigenous peoples, illegal immigrants } will experience increased hostility as their standard of living drives down toward those prevailing in the Sudan.
The abuse of the Legislative powers in BC, with the current passing of the Third Reading of wage increases { 15% -31%; with excessive pension provisions} and benefits to MLAs, continues the bad faith policies which have erupted during the last 5 years. And, these reflect the subterfuge arising from the federal government in such actions as were reported through the Gomery Inquiry and its settlement of Residential Schools claims.
Again, people will always get the government that they deserve. The Rt. Hon. John G Defenbaker {P.C.;Q.C.,M.A., LL.B, D.C.L., M.P.} in "You & The Law" spoke highly of people coming to know their rights; and, Dr. J.A. Corry, who chaired the editorial ship of this publication said, "... For more than 2000 years, there have been endless discussions about what would be equal justice ... A community that does not strive for justice will not hold the loyalty of its people ... and ... If the law is so uncertain that we cannot find out what we must do to stay within it - or, what we count on it doing to protect us from others - it fails us. We lose our confidence in action, our freedom as individuals becomes meaningless, and the law, such as it is, comes into contempt ... This is the century of the common man, not because he always gets full measure of justice but because he is protected in his freedoms to agitate about grievances and to organize for their redress - far beyond what he has ever had before ..." - 1975, the year that The Touchstone Committee originated.
The BC Legislature will be wise never to proclaim the Third Reading of Bill 17
